The Seven Star Art Company was set up by Louis in 2019 as a response to a commission he received for the Rosewood Hotel in Guangzhou China. https://www.rosewoodhotels.com/en/guangzhou The commission was based on works from the 2016 exhibition "Refraction".

The artist writes; " The abstract geometrical patterns that arose in the exploration of light in Refraction drew a parallel with the characters in Chinese Script and with the crackling pattern in the porceline tile cladding used externally on the building. This harkens back to the Celadon glazes used in traditional Chinese pottery."

In 2021 The Seven Star Art Co published its first work titled - Louis Mc Loughlin Works 2016 - 2020. 

The Rosewood Hotel sits atop the CTFFinance Building making it the highest hotel in mainland China.




The Seven Star Art Co. takes its name from the sequence of the celestial spheres according to the Ptolemaic system. These are the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. (Also, coincidently, the seven days of the week).Setting them equidistant in a circle and by connecting a point to every third we have the seven-pointed star.
